The club needs to fill vacancies on the committee by 1st June 2010. This is due mainly to the fact that Brian Worts is retiring from the club in October. He currently fills many roles within the club, which now require several individuals to fill.
The vacancies are:
Sam Beats the Coaches
Organised by coach Brian Worts, who also guested in the event, the table tennis players of the ExeTT Premier Club, were first faced with the Service Test. The was the accuracy of service to four targets at the opposite end of the table.
Brian, who'd scored nine in a previous event, now only scored once. Fellow coach Paul Humphries hit twice as did Hannah Sharpe and parent Claire Buckler. Sam Richards aged 15, scored 3, whilst ten year old Matthew Wellington took the early lead with four successes. Any embarrassment to his older opponents was short lived for he was one of five who chalked up a zero on the Reaction Test which followed. Thus it was, that catching a pole before it hit the floor, was a challenge not easily achieved. The few who could totally focus and, essentially bend their knees, grasped the falling target. Surprisingly Martin Atkin and Ollie Sharpe were zero victims. Sam and Brian had maximum points with Paul only missing once. Before the final test the accumalative scores of the top five were; Sam 6, Paul, Brian and Matthew 4, Hannah Sharpe 3.
Precision followed. Six attempts at a forehand attack into a box sited on the floor four metres from the table. Hannah's score of 2 lifted her into second spot, Matthew's 2 levelled him with Sam. Hannah dropped out of the top three. Brian, still guesting, only missed twice and Paul then did likewise. The adult pair were now joint first with 8 points. The young pretender stepped forward and the hall hushed. Sam needed three to humble the adults. First he missed, second and third he scored and he was now level first. 4th missed it went too far left. Groans then silence. Sam took a deep breath. Adjusted his position. Struck. Missed. Someone growled. Another said 'you can do it'. One chance. It was almost as good as Fulham's come back against Juventus. The 40 millimetre sphere dropped precisely on target. Sam had won !

Club knockout doubles tournament
For three weeks, whilst the Exmouth College make improvements to their Sports Hall, the ExeTT Club have to make do with six tables instead of the usual fifteen. It was fortunate that only eighteen of the eighty two members could attend the temporary Friday evening reduced facility. The good news was that it was a comfort zone that beckoned competition and the doubles knock-out tournament that followed found the six seniors present outplayed by their junior opposition.
Paul Humphries, Garry Diamond and Martin Atkin all victims in the fist round. Claire Buckler and Graham Higgins made their exits in the semi finals.
The final drew Dan Babb and Sam Smith together against Sam Richards and a parent member, Chris Sampson. The latter won a close match 11-9, 11-8 and are pictured with Howard Back the Chairman of the club. Runners up, with their trophies are left Dan Babb, right, Sam Smith.
